Harvesting
Lee Farms' sweet potatoes are turned up in the field and then carefully harvested by hand and placed in storage bins under careful supervision. These bins are placed in our warehouse until they are ready to be packed and shipped to the customer. 		 
  Handling
In 1993 after seeing so much abusive handling of sweet potatoes by many packers, shippers and processors, we realized the industry had a real need to improve sweet potato handling to preserve quality, nutrition and increase storage time.. Lee farms has made a commitment to answer that need. We adopted the method of washing and packing our sweet potatoes in a small vegetable machine, sizing and sorting them by hand and then carefully placing them in our custom designed boxes to reach these goals.

 

"Tailor-made" Sorting
We recognized the need for various sizes of sweet potatoes, so we are prepared to "tailor-make" our sweet potato to meet your needs.
Jumbo's are best suited for restaurants because they can quickly be be prepared in large quantities. There are approximately 27 sweet potatoes in a 40# box.
Premium number one sweet potatoes are best suited for retailers to market in their produce section. There are approximately 55 sweet potatoes in a 40# box.
14-18oz. sweet potatoes are ideal for restaurants to bake and serve individually. There are approximately 37 sweet potatoes in a 40# box.
Our 70-80 count (per 40# box) sweet potatoes are best for the customer needing to serve smaller portions. 		 
  Storage Conditions
Our warehouse is maintained at a constant temperature of 55 Degrees F and the ideal humidity to ensure that our sweet potatoes stay top quality for the longest possible shelf life. Our Sweet Potatoes are available in prime condition all year around.
  Shipping
Lee Farms has their own trucks and drivers for dependable, timely delivery all year around. Our in house transportation is available to all size customers to suit their needs.
